SIRACUSA, SICILY (October 11, 2015) –Active duty military members stationed at Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella have the opportunity to travel to the remarkable town of Siracusa this Saturday, October 17, as part of a special Information, Trips, and Tours (ITT) trip.

For only $75, the trip will give participants a look into the culture and history of Siracusa through a guided tour of the Greek amphitheater and the Island of Ortygia. A bus transportation will have pick-up locations at NAS Sigonella and Marani Base One. Included in this special offering is a traditional Sicilian lunch with three courses and homemade wine.

“The Greek theatre in Siracusa was built around 470 B.C. by Hiero I,” said Louis Devato, one of the ITT employees here at NAS Sigonella. “It was the largest theatre in the ancient world and even today when you stand there you can feel humbled by the size.”

Active Duty military members and civilian military card holders can sign up for the trip at the ITT office located at Hangar 104 anywhere from 0800 to 1700 Monday through Friday.

“This is one of our most popular trips,” said Devato. “We have had people actually come back and thank us for the experience.”

ITT has a Trips and Tours program that travels to different destinations and events every month. To take advantage of special pricing and reliable transportation to sporting events, dinner shows, theatre performances, shopping districts, ski mountains, and many other destinations, check your monthly Fun Times or call ITT for the upcoming schedule.
